The Peruvian Amazon Rainforest
The Peruvian Amazon (Amazonia del Peru) is part of the Amazon rainforest. According to IIAP (Instituto de Investigaciones de la Amazonía Peruana), the Amazon of Peru is 782,880.55 km² (approximately 11% of the entire Amazon). Peru's Amazon has 262 amphibian species, 806 birds, 7,372 flowering plants, 700 ferns, 293 mammals, 2,500 butterflies, 697 fish and 180 reptiles. Around 1.5 million people live in the Peruvian Amazon.
